Canoe Slalom is contested in both canoe (C) and kayak (K), with athletes navigating upstream and downstream gates on a whitewater course, with penalties for touching or missing a gate.

The world class Penrith Whitewater Stadium will host the ICF Slalom World Championships Sydney 2025. Built for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Penrith Whitewater Stadium is still regarded as one of the premier international whitewater facilities. Nestled on the Nepean River, it will be the second time Penrith has hosted the World Championships, the first being in 2005.
